Readables: A Economic & Ecological Solution Book

For a few years now I've been really bothered by how poor my generation is at basic hospitality.  I'm deeply bothered that my immediate neighbor is so unfriendly (though I'm making progress there).  I've been tossing around the idea of making one dinner a week dedicated to inviting someone over.  Just like the old movies and shows.  I want to be able to ask my neighbor to borrow a tool without feeling like a mooch.  I want my neighbor to come borrow my tools!

I was just informed of this book:

I cannot wait to read it.  I hope you do too.  I hope we change our world.  I hope my children see something better than I've seen.

Readables: Articles Worth Reading

This post is simple and probably going to happen repeatedly.   Every week I read a number of cool things online, some are incredibly valuable and should be shared.  So I'm sharing them.  See, I told you it was simple.

  • In Defense of Mediocrity : A great article on calming down and not striving for mastery of everything but choosing what level to take which skills to (professionally & personally)
  • [WIRED] Under Pressure: The Search for a Stress Vaccine : I haven't finished reading this because it's quite long.  However, I have already walked away with good insights and am going to make some life changes as a result.  I'm VERY skeptical that a "vaccine" for stress woud be a good idea.
  • Time Bridge : We used this tool to find a meeting time for the GLSEC 2011 Board Meeting and it was VERY cool.  Nice way to pick out a meeting time.
There are lots more things that I read this week.  They weren't worth sharing.
