Starting a New Adventure

As you may know I have been working at the amazing and exceptional Atomic Object.  What a pleasure to work here.  Never have I learned as much so quickly.  The few years that I've spent here have opened my eyes to so much about agile development, user-centered design, and innovation.  Now my thirst for knowledge and experience calls me out to see what else I can see, learn, and do.

What now?  As I've posted earlier I do have a little startup that I've been working on.  I'm still working on this in the evenings and weekends and it's going well.  I'm also a ski instructor during the winter which combined with my husband's income & benefits will keep me afloat while I explore my options.  Ultimately, I'm looking for a new adventure in software.  I'm exploring opportunities at all the good local shops with a somewhat fuzzy and open-minded idea about what I could do.  I'm looking at short- and long-term options, as well as full- and part-time positions.  There are a few things I do know: I want to do more speaking & teaching (which will happen regardless of where I work), I must feel at ease with the environment and culture of the company I work for, and I would like to continue to utilize my investigatory nature while pursuing my intense interest in user-centered design.  As of this post I'm actively interviewing already and will have my last day in the office later this week.  However, I plan to take the holidays off and not take a new position until after the start of 2011.
